Kuloden is allegedly a documentary about the Battle of Kuloden in 1746, the last attempt by the Jacobites to revolt, and the first "attempts" by Britain to carry out almost genocide against the Scottish highland clans. Everything was filmed in the television style of the seventies, as if there were already cameras and news reports in the 18th century, played by non-professional actors. Stunning in its power and reality, the film not only visually paints the horrors of war, explores economic and class differences beyond a fundamental conflict, but also draws subtle parallels between the Jacobite uprising and Europe’s role in the Vietnam War. Kuloden is the director's first film for BBC television.
