The 23-year-old director Audrey Estrougo's excellent and surprisingly mature debut "I'm Not Afraid" is a chronicle of the life of young people in the Paris suburbs. The film tells many interrelated stories, revealing different characters. The 24-hour story is interpreted from two points of view: first from the male and then from the female.
The characters in the film meet in the suburbs, talk, get angry, fall in love. Their lives there are not easy. When the boy learns that he has been admitted to the famous London football club Arsenal, the tension among the young people reaches its highest point.
“The director’s first film always stems from personal experience. In this case, it is my youthful experience. I lived in Paris, but my mom got married again and we moved to the suburbs. I was 13 years old and I didn’t understand what was going on around me. I had to adapt so that I could integrate, ”says the director.
