The judges at a television talent show ask sixteen-year-old Lea a simple question: who are you, and what makes you special? Caught off guard, she has no answer. Her chaotic family offers little help: her parents have just separated, her grandparents are struggling to keep the family hotel afloat, and her aunt is shunned by the town. As Lea’s television appearance draws closer, a camera crew arrives in town. Amid the familiar rhythms of home and family life, she gradually learns to see the extraordinary in those around her. Through this finely observed family portrait, rising German filmmaker Eva Trobisch subtly traces the social tensions that still run through the former East Germany.
