Crossing Europe

3 Weeks After

1 hr. 35 min. | Drama | Pegi 13

Just three weeks after a classmate’s suicide, a group of students and two teachers set off on a school trip. When their bus breaks down, they are forced to find somewhere to spend the night and rethink their plans. The unplanned stopover becomes an outlet for pent-up emotions, yet any chance to reflect and come to terms with the loss is soon overwhelmed by an entrenched culture of bullying and violence. The film creates a palpable atmosphere of fear, despair and terror. It offers no easy answers about the roots of cruelty and collective conformity, but suggests that they extend far beyond the teenagers themselves. In his third feature, as in his earlier work, Serbian director Miroslav Terzić uses carefully calibrated cinematic choices to build an ever-mounting sense of tension.
