"Shanghai Banzai" is an ironic documentary about the Vilnius Šnipiškės district, known to Vilnius as Shanghai. The film reveals the paradoxical existence of a rural city center, the existence of a unique multinational community, and explains the origins of the district name. The film portrays the people of Shanghai who have their own rules, loves, habits and sins. Many of them live in a time of the past that melts into our memory. Shanghai is being replaced by a prestigious skyscraper district, and no one knows what the future holds for Shanghai's "characters."
