Dreamland

1 hr. 30 min. | Documentary | N/A

"Dreamland" is a film about a nation at a crossroads. The crisis shocked Iceland shortly after the government embarked on a huge project in the country's history to build the largest dam in Europe. Alcoa supplies the dam to the aluminum smelters in the eastern Icelandic fjords at a very low cost. Today, Iceland has a huge debt and a very vague future.

"Politicians and the media are not at all interested in what aluminum companies do. If you play chess, you have to study the opponent's style of play: his moves, the context in which he became a chess player. In Iceland, it was decided not to study the context of the aluminum company Alcoa, ”says director Andri Snær Magnason.
