In 1989, the Berlin Wall collapsed, causing a wave of various changes that had not yet reached the seventeen-year-old Jarle, who lives in the town of Stavanger. So far, he has everything the heart can crave: the best girl in the world, the coolest friend to quickly form the toughest punk band. Everything changes when a new boy, Yngve, comes to class. He is very different from others, making Jarle feel uncomfortable. He doesn't know anything but that he can't help but see Ingve, even though he has to do what he doesn't like the most - listening to Duran Duran and playing tennis. Slowly but surely, Jarle disappoints everyone and understands for the first time in her life what it means to be alone.
