Crossing Europe

Hyena

1 hr. 27 min. | Drama | N/A

Abandoned factories that have not been operating for years, no one needs equipment. The boy Kid lives in such a modern industrial desert. His father was killed in a recent accident at the mine, so Kidas lives only with his mother. There is a rumor in the village that hyena lives in the bushes near the boy's house. The predatory beast also attacks humans. Every time you go to school, Kid has to overcome fear. It gets even worse when people start to disappear in the neighborhood. Kid soon begins to suspect that all of these events have to do with a mystical man hiding from everyone. "Children cannot protect themselves from the forces of evil. They are vulnerable. They accept other worlds, their demons, the most horrible beings, the damned souls who return to harm people without easy and long deliberation. My story balances on the border of fiction and reality. It's a story about the boy's fears after his father's death, "says director Grzegorz Lewandowski. The film received favorable reviews at the Venice Film Festival (Critics' Week program).
