Open Borders

Narciso

1 hr. 41 min. | Drama | Pegi 13

Paraguay, 1959. With the country in the grip of a military dictatorship, rock ’n’ roll devotee Narciso returns from Buenos Aires to take a job at a radio station, introducing listeners to an entirely new sound. Irresistible to men and women alike, the charismatic music lover becomes both a radio sensation and a symbol of liberation. After his final broadcast, Narciso is found dead. Can the truth of what happened – and who was responsible – ever be uncovered in a country suffocated by a regime built on control, violence and fear? Inspired by the life of radio presenter Bernardo Aranda, the film won the FIPRESCI Prize in the Panorama section at the Berlinale.
