Two brothers, two women, two generations, and two shores of the Curonian Spit. On one side – the Germans still lingering as the Second World War draws to a close; on the other – the Soviets already advancing. Having lost his wife and left with newborn twins, Kasparas moves across the lagoon to live with his twin brother Andrius. But on the opposite shore – old grievances and new feelings await. At first glance, the story and its characters might seem divided into “black” and “white.” Yet in truth, the film portrays ordinary people, living, loving, and dreaming of escape. Only they find themselves caught on the wrong shore at the wrong time.
