Chamisso’s Shadow Part 1: Alaska and Aleutian Island

Inspired by a traveler and explorer Adelbert von Chamisso (1781 – 1838), Ulrike Ottinger begins her journey to Kamchatka, Chukotka, Alaska and Aleutian Islands. Surrounded by wild seas and volcanoes, there live small nations who still keep their culture, languages and wisdom alive in their memory, despite the colonialist past. In this twelve hours long diary, Ulrike Ottinger shows us people and landmarks, animals and plants.
