"Operation Danube was the code name for the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Warsaw Pact armies in August 1968. Polish tanks cross the Czechoslovak border, thus preventing a counter-revolution. Boružė, the last tank to leave the barracks, gets lost in a small Czech border village. Locals immediately begin to show feelings of hostility to the occupiers. But soon both Polish soldiers and locals realize that they are all victims, so in such a situation they can come to a gentlemanly agreement. Enemies make friends: after all, the tank needs to be repaired, and Czech dumplings are made, and maybe it is even possible to find the other side ...
“I like to look at history from the perspective of an ordinary person. It's a film about understanding, ”says director Jacek Głomb, who based the film on his own tragicomic performance.
