Crossing Europe

Buick Riviera

1 hr. 26 min. | Drama | N/A

Hassan left Bosnia 17 years ago and began a new life in America. Persecuted in the past, he lives with American wife Angela in North Dakota. His only shelter is the 1963 Buick Riviera. This is his house. One day, Hassan accidentally slips off the road and stops Vuko-Serb for help on an empty road. At first, the men share the longing for the home, tell each other their lives, but soon the old wounds open - war. The Buick Riviera boldly depicts the grimaces of exile, loss, eternal discord, thus reaffirming the saying that you can try to escape from yourself, but never hide.

"It is a road film that tells the story of a refugee, his loneliness, the attempt to adapt to a different life in a foreign country, the eternal question of whether it is possible to suppress the longing for the homeland," says Goran Rušinović.
