Erland and his best friend Sven Erik work in a paper mill. Together with his wife, Maja Erland, she runs a spousal school in her spare time - organizes conversations with married couples at the town church. But soon the quiet course of life changes: Erland falls in love with Sven Eric’s new wife Karin at a party and enters into an affair with her. Realizing that the situation is quite difficult, Erland makes a wise decision - to sit down and discuss the situation for everyone. The conclusion of the meeting is that Sven Erik and Karina have to live together with Erland and Maya. The company lists 10 rules of cohabitation. This experiment turns into a real test. All of its participants soon feel like they are standing on the edge of an abyss.
