Tom, a former tennis champion, now works at a luxury resort in the Canary Islands, giving lessons to tourists and drowning his boredom in the local nightclub. When the Maguire family arrives at the hotel, Tom – convinced he has met Anne before – offers to show them around the island. But when her husband suddenly disappears one night and the police launch an investigation, suspicion falls on both Tom and Anne. Blending Antonioni’s L’Avventura with the noir tradition, this psychological thriller is the latest work from Jan-Ole Gerster, returning to Scanorama for the second time.
