Franta and Ondra – political activists and participants in the Velvet Revolution – seem never to have truly grown up. Withdrawn from society, the eccentric twins live in the magical mountains of Bohemian Forest, surrounded by poetry and animals. Yet their peace is shadowed by growing discord: adventurer Franta longs for change, while Ondra clings to the familiar. The closeness that has sustained them all their lives begins to suffocate. Winner of the top prize at Karlovy Vary, this hybrid documentary about the separation and reconciliation of kindred souls also casts a nostalgic glance at a simpler way of life. Tragically, the film’s protagonist František died just hours after the festival’s award ceremony.
