Ester’s son David has an intellectual disability. Unable to speak, he requires constant care, and his behavior is often unpredictable. One day, the mother‘s patience breaks – she steals a camper van and sets off with her son on a journey across Italy. Along the way, they meet Zuza, a free-spirited traveler who briefly restores Ester’s sense of freedom and hope. This sensitive road movie about caring for another while preserving one’s own independence was presented in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard program.
