Caprice – Joanna Hogg’s graduation film – in which a young woman, played by a then-unknown Tilda Swinton, finds herself inside the pages of her favorite fashion magazine. The film brings into focus themes that have preoccupied Hogg ever since: the desire to fit in and the social pressure to look and behave in prescribed ways, and the inner conflicts that follow.
