Nurse Shoo, still mourning her tragic loss, travels to a remote town to take care of an elderly woman suffering from agoraphobia. She is terrified of both her neighbours and of Na Sídhe, the creature the old woman believes abducted her decades ago. As the women grow closer and closer, Shoo is influenced by the sick woman's paranoia, rituals and superstitions, until finally her own past comes to light. Using the genre of folk horror, Frewaka (Irish for "roots") tells the silent stories of abused women.
