Set during the Nazi occupation of Poland during World War II, the film follows Michal (by Leszek Teleszynski) who, after witnessing the murder of his wife and child, joins the resistance and accidentally allows an unknown man to go to prison instead of him. To help the wife (by Malgorzata Braunek) of the man, he gets a job at a Nazi laboratory where Jews and members of the resistance are employed as feeders for parasites infected with typhus. However, a guilty conscious is not easy to silence. Based on real-life experience of the director's father and filled with mind-boggling turns, The Third Part of the Night is a journey into cinematic world on the verge of insanity.
