"Paris, Texas" is probably Wim Wenders' most famous film. The critically acclaimed film has won numerous international awards, including the Golden Palm Branch for Best Picture at the 1984 Cannes Film Festival. "Paris, Texas" is a non-standard road film about Travis, a man lost in his personal hell. Travis, who has been considered dead for four years, reappears in the American deserts near the Mexican border. Soon his brother Volt, who has been raising his seven-year-old son Hunter all these years, comes to pick him up. The child rediscovers his father, and Travis rediscovers the son lost in the layers of his memory. Eventually, they decide to return the mother to the family.
“Most of my films start with maps, not scripts. Sometimes it feels like you’re flying blindly without any control devices. You fly all night and arrive somewhere in the morning. Then you have to land somewhere for the movie to end. This movie got better, or rose differently than my previous movies. As always, I flew all night without controlling the direction, but this time I landed exactly where I wanted to go. From the beginning, Paris, Texas had a much straighter trajectory and a much clearer goal. Also, this film has more history than my previous films, and I wanted to tell it until I fell, ”Wenders said.
