Once upon a time, Howard Spenc played the hero of the Wild West, and now he is only a supporting actor. He lives completely alone and drowns his own disgust in alcohol, drugs and the company of young women. But one day Howard's mother tells him that he has a child somewhere. The message itself shines like a ray, suddenly the whole life no longer seems so meaningless. Howard travels in search of a son or daughter, no matter. He finds Doren, a woman he once loved, a potential son, Earl, and a young singer ... What's more, Howard appears in the sight of Skai, who could also be his daughter. Suter also appears soon, with the task of returning Howard to the filming site from which he escaped.
"Come Without Knocking" is a film about love and family relationships. Almost all of the film talks about missed opportunities and the resulting self-pity. About that tragicomic moment when you realize what the love of your life is, it’s only too late. We observe a father-son relationship that has never existed. And when we meet Howard and Doreen, we watch two old lovers reunite, but are forced to admit that their passion has long since faded. We see Sky and Earl, a brother and sister, discovering each other for the first time at the age of almost thirty. "All these emotions almost boil and give all the characters a few days of joy, pain and anxiety," says W. Wenders.
