One place. One day. Two men. A polar station on an uninhabited island in the Arctic Ocean. The polar day lasts for many weeks and the sun does not set all summer. Forty-year-old meteorologist Sergei and twenty-one student Pavel travel to the port. The ship will arrive and they will go home. One day, Pavel receives a radio message, the content of which he does not dare to pass on to Sergei. Pavel keeps procrastinating, hoping that the ship will arrive soon and he will avoid the unpleasant duty. However, it turns out that the ship may not arrive this year. Pavel desperately tries to get to the mainland and almost dies. He is saved by Sergei. Excited, Pavel finally announces the message on the radio. The angry Sergei almost kills Pavel. The latter escapes and, convinced that Sergei is hunting him, sets a deadly trap for him.
