At the Edge of the World

In 2006, horrific facts came to light in Iceland: young boys were constantly beaten, periodically raped and otherwise humiliated in a shelter. Decades later, the victims finally decided to talk about the horrific events.

This documentary is a glimpse into the recent degrading past of today. It’s a film about people who were rejected by life and constantly accompanied by violence. The filmmakers tell the story in a quiet, very intimate camera, showing unique archival footage of stunning images from the remote western fjords of Iceland.

Ari Alexander Ergis Magnússon was born in 1968 in Reykjavik, Iceland. After studying at the Sorbonne in 1996. graduated from the Paris School of Design. Scanorama screened the director's film The Screaming Masterpiece.
