Films from this year's European Film Forum Scanorama were recognised at the European Film Awards, which took place in Berlin on 9th December.
Mads Mikkelsen won the best European actor award for Nikolaj Arcel's historical drama The Promised Land which was in competition in Venice. The film also took awards for Rasmus Videbæk’s cinematography and Kicki Ilander’s costume design.
Lithuanian producer Uljana Kim gained the Eurimages International Co-Production Award.
İlker Çatak and Johannes Duncker were nominated for the European Screenwriter award and Leonie Benesch for the European Actress award for The Teachers’ Lounge.
White Plastic Sky, directed by Tibor Bánóczki and Sarolta Szabó (Hungary, Slovakia) was nominated in the European Animated Feature Film category.
The Quiet Migration, directed by Malene Choi (Denmark) was nominated for European Discovery – Prix Fipresci.
Grigorijus Kanovicius, the Lithuanian Jewish screenwriter, was commemorated in memorium section. To commemorate his great work Ave Vita was screened at the recent Scanorama.
