Medea is a foreigner in a foreign land, betrayed by her husband Jason, who leaves her and their two children to marry the Queen of Corinth. To avenge his betrayal, Medea resolves to destroy everything he loves, no matter how difficult it may be for her. Lars von Trier created his own version of the tragedy of Medea, based on a script written by Carl Theodor Dreyer but never used. Made for Danish television and rarely screened worldwide, this film is considered one of the best of the director's career.
