Comprised of two uninterrupted shots, this little-seen version of Shakespeare’s play Tarr directed for Hungarian television gradually reveals itself to be a master class in the resourceful use of space and perspective. Macbeth preserves all the ambient tension of the original, reinventing the spare, atmospherically lit set with his newly mobile camera technique. The film marked a radical shift in the director‘s aesthetics.
