In rural north-eastern France, tensions between farmers and hunters reach breaking point as growing herds of wild boar lay waste to the crops. At the height of the dispute, Brun, a farmer on the verge of bankruptcy, reaches for his gun and disappears. A year later, gendarme Fulda and police psychologist Stéphane begin investigating his disappearance. Reeling from a recent break-up and transferred from his previous post after his uncompromising approach landed him in trouble, Fulda throws himself into the case with little regard for local convention, even as his grip on reality begins to loosen. As the buried truth behind the feud comes to light, this portrait of a tight-lipped provincial town spirals into pitch-black comedy.

After graduating from the École nationale supérieure d’audiovisuel (ENSAV) in Toulouse, Sarah Arnold made her first short film, The Quartet, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Torino Film Festival. Her 2014 film Totems received the Pardino d’Oro at the Locarno Film Festival. Too Many Beasts was selected for Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes.
