Herman Karlsson is a writer-director based in Helsinki, Finland. He grew up in a tiny village in the countryside, and movies became his go-to hobby early on. After seeing Jurassic Park in 1994, there was simply no turning back. Karlsson graduated from film school in 2013, and made his debut as a professional filmmaker with his comedy short film The Third Date in 2015. Since then he’s been busy developing films and tv-shows, writing his first feature length script in 2020. A driving force in Karlsson’s moviemaking is a desire to entertain. Something he attributes to growing up on Spielberg-films from the 80’s and 90’s. Karlsson makes films that connect with audiences on an emotional level, usually through relatable, grounded characters that end up in awkward or extraordinary situations. His motto is: To care, you have to relate. Karlsson is fluent in English, Swedish and Finnish.
