A family arrives at their villa on the Mediterranean coast to find a naked stranger swimming in their pool. The mysterious woman with green fingernails claims to be a botanist. The stranger's appearance in the house only exacerbates the estrangement between the war journalist Isabella and the melancholic poet Joe. As the couple oscillate between lust and death, a perfect holiday gradually turns into a hellish, black-humoured spectacle. The filmmaker's debut film is based on the novel by Booker Prize winner Deborah Levy.
