Dante's Inferno is an almost literal adaptation of extracts from Dante's Divine Comedy, bringing the 19th century illustrations by Gustave Doré to life on screen alongside the original text. One of the most expensive films of all time, it still amazes with its mass scenes and technical solutions, and is rightly called the first blockbuster in the history of cinema.
