The legendary director Agnès Varda's career in cinema began at the age of 26 with La Pointe Courte, a study of a failing marriage on the Mediterranean coast. A man decides to spend a holiday in his childhood town of Sete to share his childhood memories and landscapes with his wife. The distance between the spouses leaves them blind to the concerns of the locals. With its stylised depiction of relationships, its documentary look at the Mediterranean population, Varda's debut film laid the foundations for the French New Wave with its radical aesthetic.
