Antonia is a young photographer working for a local Corsican daily newspaper. The important stages of her life are set against the backdrop of the political events that plagued the island in the late 20th century. Corsica is portrayed from a female perspective: as the fiancée of an independence fighter, Antonia follows the island's events from both the inside and the outside, capturing the resistance movement through the lens of her camera. Over the two decades of Antonia's life, a tragic portrait of the island of Corsica is also painted. The film is based on a novel by Goncourt Prize-winning writer Jérôme Ferrari.
