Grand Tour

Miguel Gomes studied in Lisbon and worked as a film critic before becoming a filmmaker. His films and retrospectives (Taboo, Arabian Nights) have been screened at prestigious international festivals and film centres. Gomes' style is visual, poetic and hybrid, and his films often oscillate between contemporary narratives and colonial history. His ability to migrate freely between different historical eras has earned him the distinction of being the most outstanding director in his native Portugal and the title of Best Director at Cannes this year. Grand Tour is Gomes's sixth film and his first to be selected in competition at Cannes.
