Masterclass by Oscar-winning Production Designer Allan Starski

Known for his ability to elevate the visual story to a new level, Allan Starski is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive production designers of our age and in the entire film history. Participants will learn how to create a strong visual and the subtleties of the storyboarding and breakdown, research and artistic interpretation, concept drawings, models and final drafts, work on location and studio set, colour palette. The participants will be able to air the production design issues they encounter and receive valuable feedback. Directors, DOP’s and visual artists are also welcome to understand the subtleties of the art department and ways to improve visual storytelling.
Allan Starski, production designer, who has collaborated with Steven Spielberg, Andrzej Wajda, Agnieszka Holland, Roman Polanski, Peter Webber, Fatih Akin among others. Starski is well-known for his work on films "Man of Iron" (1981), "Europa Europa" (1990), "Schindler’s List" (1993), "Washington Square" (1997), "The Pianist" (2002), "Oliver Twist" (2005), "Hannibal Rising" (2007). Starski received the Academy Award for the Production Design for Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List and and César Award for Roman Polanski’s The Pianist. This year at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia the Platinum Lion was granted to Starski for his lifetime achievements.
The event is for professional set designers, art department specialists, film directors, DOP's, art students, and other professional film creative team members. The participants are required to take part on both days.
