In July 2014, many still believed that the situation in Donbas would soon calm down. Even Irka stubbornly refuses to leave her house, despite the fact that she is about to give birth. She has no idea that the contested right to stay here will cost her a huge price. Emotionally torn between a passively pro-Russian husband and an actively anti-separatist brother, she begins to understand the laws of war too late. The evocative film based on real events depicts the drama of a mother responsible for her future life in thoughtful compositions that bear witness to the deeply destructive nature of war in every shot.
