Restoring Soviet Reality in Feature Film. Case Study of Johan Renck’s Miniseries “Chernobyl”
“Chernobyl” series dominated the Creative Emmys with seven statues, including awards for cinematography and production design. Lineta Miseikyte, executive producer of “Chernobyl” in Lithuania will reveal her experience how to remain truthful to historic memory in contemporary feature film. Scoring high at “Emmy”, BAFTA, “Golden Globes”, Johan Renck’s directed HBO’s “Chernobyl” is described as hauntingly accurate, praised for going to extraordinary lengths to create an authentic atmosphere and details, for what the creative team pay tribute to Lithuania. Lineta Miseikyte, who orchestrated sophisticated technical details in the biggest budget foreign film production in Lithuania up-to-date, reveals the ways of re-constructing historical memory. Lineta Miseikyte started her career in film production after majoring in English Studies at Vilnius University. From 1996 to 2004 worked as a production manager at Lithuanian Film Studio (Lietuvos kino studija). In 2004 founded a company “Baltijos filmų paslaugos”. Working as the executive producer together with foreign partners, since then she has produced more than thirty films in Lithuania. Lineta’s work includes BBC series “War and Peace”, BBC series “Nazi Rise”, HBO series “Chernobyl” and others. Since 2008 Lineta has been a member of The Independent Producers Association of Lithuania, since 2011 – a member of the Lithuanian Film Council.
