Chris Sievey always dreamed of pop-music stardom, but belated recognition only came incognito, through his loveably anarchic creation Frank Sidebottom – an alter-ego with a large papier-mâché head. Director Steve Sullivan assembles a compelling portrait of this peculiar artist. Being Frank tells a tale of a suburban superhero with a fanatical desire to preserve the myth he created, and eventually having to battle against being consumed it.
