Masterclass with director Hans Petter Moland

Internationally acclaimed Norwegian arthouse cinema director Hans Petter Moland titles his masterclass with a quote by Oscar Wild. During his masterclass, the director, winning this year’s Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at Berlin International Film Festival, will share his creative journey in filmmaking, by challenging you to tell your story from the inside out in a visual language. As his latest film "Out Stealing Horses" ("Ut og stjæle hester", 2019), being screened at this year Scanorama, was also shot in Lithuania, he will discuss Lithuanian filmmaking specifics as well as share tips to the artistic mastery. The event is being held in English, free of charge and open to current and aspiring film professionals.

Hansas Petteris Molandas

One of the most prominent current Norwegian film directors. 4 of his movies – "Out Stealing Horses" ("Ut og stjæle hester", 2019); "In Order of Disappearance" ("Kraftidioten", 2014), "A Somewhat Gentle Man" ("En ganske snill mann", 2010), "The Beautiful Country" (2004) had been nominated for a Golden Bear in Berlin International Film Festival, the latest movie "Out Stealing Horses" winning Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution as well as being nominated for 10 Norwegian Amanda Awards and winning 5 of them. Directed 12 internationally acknowledged feature films. British film historian Peter Cowie once described him as “the Ridley Scott of Norway”, for directing hundreds of TV commercials and winning awards at all major advertising festivals, including Gold Lion in Cannes Lions, Eurobest, Epica, Clio awards. In 2011 Moland directed a play at the Norwegian Theatre in Oslo – John Patrick Shanley´s "Doubt". H. P. Moland was educated at Emerson College in Boston and lived for close to eleven years in the United States. Currently resides in Oslo.
