Created from segments of chronicles of Interwar Lithuania found in the Lithuanian Central State Archives, the programme presents the industrial, cultural and everyday life of the country during the period.
The first segment is a montage of 10 excerpts, carefully chosen from all the available materials of the Archives. The silent footage focuses on the country’s aviation, sport, industry, it’s temporary capital Kaunas and other aspects of life during the Interwar period. The segment has been scored with piano music by Edgar Sabilo.
The second segment is a digitized tourist documentary “In the Free Motherland” (1938) by Lithuanian Americans Motuzai brothers. The 30-minute long film, created right before Lithuania’s occupation, idealistically portrays the countries achievements during the 20 years of independence.
