Alex Brüel Flagstad was born in 1980 in Næstved, Denmark. In 2001 he began his studies in photography and writing at the Danish Media School. In this period he directed several short films and music videos, later started directing commercials. In 2006 he started working with clay and animation, first work was an installation called Mice, shown in Berlin in 2007
