Faithless, Liv Ullmann‘s fourth film as a director, is a story of faith and fidelity scripted by Ingmar Bergman. The framework is set by the meeting of Marianne and an elder author. Marianne acknowledges her relationship to two men – her husband Markus, and David, a friend of the family. Marianne and Markus, who have a nine-year-old daughter, have a stable partnership. Yet the affair with David hurtles Marianne into a state of emotional chaos. The question of fidelity and guilt leads to fatal consequences.
