Brothers Vittorio (b. 1929) and Paolo (b. 1931) Taviani have always worked together on their films as writer-directors. Vittorio studied law and his brother studied art. They started directing in the early 60s and have made both fiction and documentary films. They made a name for themselves internationally with the 1977 work Padre Padrone.
