An unlikely kind of friendship develops between Fergus, an Irish Republican Army volunteer, and Jody, a kidnapped British soldier. When the hostage-taking ends up going horribly wrong, Fergus escapes to London, where he seeks out Jody's lover Dil. Unexpected events force Fergus to decide what he wants for the future, and ultimately what his nature dictates he must do. “The world we grew up in wasn’t bad – it was fascinating – it was just blighted by these [...] medieval eruptions of insanity.
