Sari is a talented student of literary studies. At first glance, she looks calm and confident, but she really feels distant from everyone. Women envy her for beauty and reason, men admire her from afar for the same reasons. Inside her grows menacingly a monster that isolates the girl from the world. Sari has epilepsy, a terrible and mysterious disease whose fear of attacks forces her to live as carefully as possible and stay away from other people.
Sari meets Miko Groman, his teacher, and is surprised that he too stays away from the world and feels good only by reading nineteenth-century poetry. Sari seems to be very similar to the two with Miko, though the others don’t look that way at all. The Year of the Wolf (2007) is a film by Olli Saarela, winner of many festivals, about forbidden love and victory over his fears.
