December 1945. Swedish writer Gunnar Vern is going to Europe to help rebuild war-torn Berlin. While riding the train, he finds no time to read the book of the beloved philosopher Wittgenstein. He is attracted by interesting fellow travelers - a constantly quarreling couple of elderly gays, a cynical doctor and his mistress who are making plans to defeat his wife, an injured soldier whose already traumatized head is being beaten one after another, German refugees from the Baltics and finally a pedantic sleeper. Not all train passengers will reach Berlin alive ... With strokes of farce and black humor, directing wit and elegance, eccentric dialogues, the film is equal to a masterpiece of this genre - the film "Murder on the Orient Express".
