This documentary covers almost the entire life of a playwright dressed as a lion. In his early youth, he was ashamed of his father’s bankruptcy, surviving the bitterness caused by a conservative society. He had a time when tourists flocked to the Grand Café in Oslo to see him having lunch there at the same time every day. This family discipline was introduced by his wife Suzana, who was constantly struggling with the writer’s innate laziness. Despite everything in Ibsen’s life, he has remained a pioneer of modern drama to this day. In the film, we also meet "Ibsen himself", played by actor Fridtjov Såheim. The filmmakers look at Ibsen's life in the context of other great personalities, Bjørnstjerneo Bjørnson, Edward Munch and Knut Hamsun.
