The film is set almost entirely in an anonymous highrise apartment, where Rickard uses DV camera to shoot pornfilms with his mate Geko and a young woman named Tess, who more or less voluntarily lets both men maltreat her. Rickard’s teenage son Eric hangs around in the room next door and gradually gets caught up in the tri’s increasingly uninhibited pursuits. Nausea and violence, intimate plastic surgery and other trash TV favourites all play the role. „A Hole in my Heart“ is a disturbing and boldly radical film whose treatment of sexuality, power and identity is closer to the work of Cindy Sherman or Matthew Barney than to conventional cinema. It is a controversial film.
