The State of Things

2 hr. 1 min. | Drama | N/A

The Situation of Things is an autobiographical film about the producer and his tired team. The director, who finds himself in the wilderness of Portugal, doesn’t even have a film. There is nothing left but to look for a sponsor. Ideally, it would be one of those movie-crazy Americans. By telling stories from the filming site and revealing the various nuances of filmmaking, Wim Wenders also tells about the homeless and the outcasts. In this film, the director seems to remember the difficulties he had to film his first film in America ("Hammett").

“All my films, whether they’re about cities, feelings or confusion, are just small details. Everything you want to say is not some kind of story. That’s what happens in the movie. Friedrich says, "There are no more stories," and he immediately experiences an experience that can in itself become history. This is also evidenced by this film. We flew blind again and were able to fly somewhere else. I’m glad we flew here, and I’m glad what I was able to see - the truth about the “stories,” Wenders says.
