Renunciation portrays the Catholic priest, who, instead of becoming a professional artist in his youth, decided to serve the God and people.

Yet, no one can hide from himself or herself completely, and the artist's nature constantly manifests itself in every step the priest takes. He has made it possible to restore sculptures and paintings in the churches under his supervision in the suiti district. Besides, his special mission is ensuring the collection and preservation of the liturgical textile art.

Ieva Epnere (b. 1977) lives and works in Riga, Latvia.
